The Brouwland beer competition in 2013 was the incentive for the brewer to start brewing his own beer. Fortunately his brew was well-received at the competition; that year ‘De Lustige Brouwers’ won the first prize in the category best student beer. After six months 3,000 litres had already been sold. In the years that followed, the beer also scored high abroad and the range was further expanded.
